If you’re a mid-career or established arts administrator, you may want to apply for the John Hobday Awards in Arts Management. Two prizes of $10,000 apiece are given out each year. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2024.
- The Professional Development and Renewal Award is for an outstanding arts manager who wants to participate in a short-term program, seminar or workshop.
- The Mentorship Award will be presented to a Canadian arts manager who seeks to expand their knowledge, experience and skills under the supervision of a mentor.

“John Hobday made an enormous contribution to improving the work quality and professionalism of arts managers from Canada by promoting professional development and continuous training and focusing on the profession's importance for the growth and viability of the arts,” according to the Canada Council. “These awards were established with a $1 million donation from the Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation to the Canada Council for the Arts.”
The 2023 winners were Emmy Lee Wall and Christie Watson.
