Kathleen Bartels Leaving Vancouver Art Gallery

The Vancouver Art Gallery announced today that Kathleen Bartels is leaving the gallery after 18 years as director 'to pursue other professional and personal interests.'
She has been a leader in the project to build a new and expanded gallery.
The public statement also noted that former Chief Curator and Associate Director Daina Augaitis (who stepped down in 2017) will be the interim director while an executive search is undertaken. Bartels will remain as a special advisor during the period of transition.
