A new co-operative workspace is in an unlikely location — an open-air courtyard at the Kelowna Art Gallery.
Kelowna artists Lucas Glenn and Mat Glenn have created a site-specific installation titled Creative Growth Centre for Spiritual Nourishment. It invites visitors to enter a self-contained "eco-utopian" live/work space.
Visitors are welcome to sit, work and play, using it as they would a shared co-operative workspace. It is equipped with heat, power, a charging station and a work area that features variable lighting. Also sharing the space are peace lilies, which are self-watering and controlled through a coded device. The centre operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
The artists graduated from the fine arts program at UBC Okanagan.
The installation will be open until May 2020.
