Ken Wallace (1945-2023)
Vancouver painter Ken Wallace, known for his animation work and landscape paintings, died June 5.
"Ken became critically recognized throughout North America for his lush, sensitively rendered and quietly elegant landscapes," said the Bau-Xi gallery, which has represented Wallace since 1976. "With saturated colour and a refined technique, Ken conveyed nuances of nature through reflections, colour and light."
Wallace graduated in 1973 from the Vancouver School of Art, now the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and went on to teach there for almost three decades.
His work can be found in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery of Canada and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
He was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Painting in 2010.
