Kenneth Lochhead's Art Given to University of Regina
The family of Kenneth Lochhead, one of the Regina Five group of artists, has donated art valued at more than $700,000 to the University of Regina.
Lochhead, who died in 2006 in Ottawa, served as director of the School of Art at the University of Saskatchewan's Regina College from 1950 to 1964.
The Regina Five, which also included Ted Godwin, Arthur McKay, Douglas Morton and Ronald Bloore, got their name after an exhibition in 1961 at the National Gallery of Canada titled Five Painters from Regina.
Lochhead received the Order of Canada in 1971 and the Governor General’s Award in 2006.
