The Hnatyshyn Foundation has announced the first recipient of its 2024 awards.
Leo Cocar has been chosen to attend The Hnatyshyn Foundation – Fogo Island Arts Young Curator Residency this summer.
Awarded annually, this program provides a chance for an up-and-coming Canadian curator to work for six weeks in residence at Fogo Island Arts (FIA), a contemporary arts venue in Newfoundland.
A cultural worker from Vancouver, Cocar holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of British Columbia and a master of arts degree from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, USA. He is currently organizing an exhibition of the work of Turkish-Canadian artist Derya Akay at the Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art in Massachusetts.
