Long List Announced for Sobey Art Award
The 25 artists on the long list for this year's Sobey Art Award have been announced.
The five regional lists each include five artists in the running for the top $100,000 prize. One finalist, chosen from each region will receive $25,000, while the remaining artists on the long list will each receive $10,000.

The jury is chaired by Sasha Suda, the director of the National Gallery of Canada, who said it was hard to narrow down the long list.
"I was excited to see so many courageous and exciting artists nominated," she says.
The award, started in 2002, is funded by the Sobey Art Foundation and organized by the National Gallery of Canada.
Previous winners include Brian Jungen, Annie Pootoogook, Nadia Myre, Ursula Johnson, Kipwani Kiwanga, Stephanie Comilang and last year’s winner, Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory.
