Johnathan Forrest painting in Louis Vuitton VIP Room in Montreal
Louis Vuitton opened its first freestanding store in Montreal, and on view in the shop is a painting by Canadian abstract painter Jonathan Forrest, which was commissioned especially for the new space. Featuring transparent layers of acrylic to build a rainbow-coloured chevron, the brightly hued work hangs in the shop's VIP room.
Born in Scotland, Forrest moved to Saskatchewan when he was a teenager. In 2013, he moved to Vancouver Island but he still keeps a summer studio in Saskatchewan. Forrest is represented by Michael Gibson Gallery, which will have some of his abstracts on view at Art Toronto this year. And his exhibition Here and There, is on now through Nov. 2 at The Gallery/art placement inc. in Saskatoon. He is represented by Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art.
