McNally Robinson Booksellers and Gurevich Fine Art have teamed up to expand the art offerings at McNally Robinson. The gallery will launch in September 2013 and will be called Gurevich Fine Art @ McNally Robinson.
Three years ago Paul and Holly McNally realised there was a gap in the Winnipeg art scene. There were very few commercial spaces for artists to show and sell their work, so they created the Small Works Series for the Prairie Ink Cafe.
Independently, Howard Gurevich had come to the same conclusion and he created Gurevich Fine Art. The painter Keith Wood introduced the two and the synergy and the plan to work together was born Paul McNally noted, “We want to maintain a certain quality of art and Gurevich Fine Art is in the best position to provide it. They know the local art community intimately and they are systematically representing the best and newest talent. They have a reputation of excellence and excitement and the pulse of the local community of artists.” Howard Gurevich elaborated, “It’s a natural fit. McNally Robinson’s vision of community space is exactly ours. Our goal is to introduce artists to an ever widening audience. McNally provides that opportunity.”
Gurevich Fine Art @ McNally Robinson will present a full program in Prairie Ink Restaurant. It will include [monthly] curated exhibits and art talks. The nature of the space demands that work not be too large and reasonably priced.
The lineup includes emerging and established artists. The offerings will include work from Dan Donaldson, Mini Davis, Robert Sim, Kae Sasaki, Robert Bruce, rare prints from The Great Canadian Screen Shop, Keith Wood, Cyrus Smith and Yisa Akinbolaji.
