Nancy Noble Named Director & CEO of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS) Board of Directors announced the appointment of Nancy Noble as the new Director & CEO for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, effective September 12, 2016.
Noble brings over 20 years of experience in marketing, exhibition and collections, and leadership roles within leading cultural institutions in Canada. Most recently, she was the Chief Executive Officer of the Museum of Vancouver, where she has held this senior leadership position for over 11 years. During her tenure with the Museum of Vancouver, she transformed the organization’s marketing and community engagement strategy and led two five-year strategic and business plans, which have collectively transformed the 115-year-old museum into a cultural beacon and center attraction for the City of Vancouver.

Reporting to the Board of Directors as the new Director & CEO, Noble will champion the goals, vision, values and mandates of the AGNS. She will lead innovation and growth, strategic plan execution, creative capital fundraising strategies, the development of quality relationships with donors and community partners, steward the search for a new Gallery, and ultimately transform the AGNS to engage the community in an enhanced experienced with visual art.
Noble holds a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan (1987) and a Masters of Arts in Museum Studies (1990) from the University of Leicester. An active member in the museum community, she was the President of the Canadian Museum Association (CMA) from 2012-2014. She is currently serving her second and final year as Past President in which she led the CMA through the completion of a new Strategic Plan in 2015.
“I am honoured to have been chosen to lead the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia,” says Noble. “The organization has an incredible history and it is going to be a privilege to be part of its future.”
