Christine Sadler will be the new chief executive of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation.
Thomas d'Aquino, the foundation's chair, announced the replacement for Karen Colby-Stothart, which takes effect Sept. 27.
Sadler is currently the foundation's managing director and director of major gifts.
He described Sadler as “a consummate museum professional with invaluable experience" and noted that Colby-Stothart's contribution were "transformative.
The foundation, a not-for-profit registered charity, has raised $70 million in gifts and facilitated art donations valued at more than $61 million over the last two decades.
The foundation's goals include stepped-up support for touring the national collection and expanding the gallery’s outreach program through partnerships with visual arts institutions across Canada.
