New Director at Royal Alberta Museum
Meaghan Patterson has been appointed director of the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. Patterson comes to the position from the Alberta Museums Association, where she was director for the last seven years.
While at the Alberta Museums Association, Patterson spearheaded a national project to study the value of museums to the public, with participation from all of Canada's provincial and territorial museums associations. She also helped deliver the museum flood funding program, which saw distribution of some $3 million to Alberta's museum community.
Patterson replaces former director Chris Robinson, who retired in May after 12 years in the position. Robinson led the museum through its relocation to downtown Edmonton in 2018.
