Artists and arts groups can apply to the Canada Council for the Arts for up to $5,000 to reach audiences online during the COVID-19 crisis.
The new initiative, Digital Originals, will help adapt work for digital dissemination.
The council has teamed up with CBC/Radio-Canada, which will feature selected projects in a digital showcase.
The initiative responds to the cancellation or postponement of countless performances, exhibitions, screenings, tours and festivals due to public health concerns.
It is open to artists and arts groups with a validated Canada Council profile in any field of practice, including new and early career artists. No prior digital experience is required.
More information will be shared on the council’s website in late April. The application portal will open in mid-May. Applications will be accepted until June 15.
