A new national program announced today will support emerging artists financially and provide exhibition opportunities for them.
The C2 Art Program, announced today by CIBC, will support two artists for six months. They will receive $25,000, plus $5,000 for materials, to create new work that will be exhibited in late 2023 at CIBC headquarters in Toronto.
"Artists often struggle financially and need exhibition opportunities to launch their career ambitions," said Claudette Knight, a CIBC vice-president. "Our C2 Art Program is designed to address these challenges and supports our belief that the arts are integral to building rich, vibrant and diverse communities."
Applications, due by Jan. 3, are open to emerging artists with at least two years of experience.
The award includes an all-expenses-paid trip to Toronto for the opening reception.
