Para Site, Fogo Island Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto have announced a landmark collaboration: the launch of the Fog & Mist Residency.
The pilot project aims to foster cross-cultural exchange and provide a platform for emerging artists from Hong Kong.
The residency’s inaugural artist will be Wong Winsome Dumalagan.
“The Fog & Mist Residency presents a unique opportunity for a Hong Kong-based artist to immerse themselves in a three-month residency on Fogo Island, Newfoundland, Canada, during the summer of 2024,” according to the news release. “The new program seeks to engage artists whose work reflects the dynamic discourses and practices relevant to Hong Kong as a place and concept, bridging diverse cultural perspectives and fostering collaboration across borders.”
Para Site and Fogo Island Arts will give Wong Winsome Dumalagan support and resources to work on her ideas, to research and to engage with regional communities. “Collaborative efforts with the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto will further facilitate the realization of Wong’s project, culminating in a live or public program in 2024,” the news release states.
