The Combine Art Fair – a new Vancouver collaboration that began during the pandemic – brings together five galleries under one roof from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5. Wil Aballe Art Projects, Unit 17, Monica Reyes Gallery and Franc Gallery will have works on display at Griffin Art Projects. The intent is to create an exciting event that supports the local arts community during the pandemic, while suggesting a new model for the future. The first edition of the art fair is dedicated to architect Andrew Gruft, who died earlier this year.
The Victoria Arts Council is partnering with Visual AIDS for Day With(out) Art 2021 by presenting Enduring Care, a video program that highlights community care within the ongoing HIV epidemic. The program features new works by Katherine Cheairs, Cristóbal Guerra, Danny Kilbride, Abdul-Aliy A. Muhammad and Uriah Bussey, Beto Pérez, Steed Taylor, and J Triangular and the Women’s Video Support Project. The screening takes place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Vic Theatre. Admission is by donation. Visual AIDS is a New York-based non-profit that uses art to fight AIDS.
The Works Festival in Edmonton is accepting proposals for projects to animate downtown public spaces during its outdoor arts celebration next summer. The deadline to submit is Jan. 21. Find more details here.

Vikky Alexander's work Between Dreaming & Living #9 is on view on the GreyChurch billboard at Fraser Street and 15th Avenue in Vancouver until March 15. Part of the Capture Photography Festival, it is the last of a rotating installation of her work on the billboard. The work fuses found fashion photography with landscapes to examine desire and utopian ideals.
