The News Photographers Association of Canada is recognizing excellence in Canadian photojournalism at Vancouver's Pendulum Gallery with a show by finalists in the 11th annual National Pictures of the Year competition.
“From grief and desperation to joy and jubilation, these photographs tell those stories with respect and class," says association president Cole Burston. "Another fantastic retrospective of the year in Canadian photojournalism.”
The exhibition, part of Vancouver's Capture Photography Festival, was selected from some 2,000 photographs and 25 multimedia productions that combine the creativity of the well-crafted photograph with socially and historically important stories.
The show runs from April 9 to May 4 at the Pendulum Gallery at 885 West Georgia St. Winners will be announced during a gala event on April 28. The show will travel to Toronto for the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival from May 7 to May 19.
