Canadian curator and writer Nicole Yip has been named as the new director of Spike Island in Bristol, England.
She will begin her new position in June 2024.
Based in the United Kingdom, Yip has been the chief curator of exhibitions and live programmes at Nottingham Contemporary since 2019. A former director of LUX Scotland, she has held curatorial positions at LUX in London, as well as ICA in London, England.
She has also curated exhibitions and projects at Tramway in Glasgow, Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, according to the news release from Spike Island.
Spike Island is Bristol, England's international centre for the production and exhibition of contemporary art. Programming includes work by “emerging and underrepresented local, national and international artists.”
