B.C.'s government has rejected a request from the Vancouver Art Gallery for an additional $50 million to top up the $50 million promised for its new building by the previous government, the Globe and Mail reports.
The Globe obtained a December 2017 letter to the gallery from Culture Minister Lisa Baere through a provincial Access to Information request. The minister invited the gallery to submit a new request if it can “demonstrate significant progress in raising private funding for this project.”
