Provincial Funding for Gallery Renovations in Victoria

The B.C. Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has announced $6 million in one-time funding  for the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria's $30-million renovation project.

The gallery has reached its capacity, and faces substantial infrastructure challenges. The project will preserve the  Spencer Mansion in its original location, while adding 20,000 square feet of new gallery space.

The addition will provide increased storage space for the gallery’s growing collection, allow more educational programs, and meet modern seismic and environmental standards. The project includes an auditorium, a sculpture garden, a cafe and a gift shop.
