Remai Modern Attendance Climbs with By-Donation Admissions
Six months after the Remai Modern in Saskatoon introduced a by-donation admissions model, it says it is attracting more visitors than before the pandemic.
Gallery records indicate attendance for the last six months was up by 13 per cent over the six-month period from Oct. 22, 2019, to March 21, 2020, the Remai said Thursday in a news release.
And attendance was 72.7 per cent higher than it was for the six months starting Oct. 22, 2021, when the pandemic was still front of mind, the gallery said.
The gallery did not provide comparative numbers, but said there were 117,941 visitors in 2022.
The museum launched admission by donation on Oct. 22.
The Remai says it decided to change its admission structure based on public feedback when it developed a new strategic plan.
A $10-million pledge from the Frank and Ellen Remai Foundation will allow the museum to offer admission by donation for the next 20 years.
