Surrey Art Gallery Wins National Award

The Surrey Art Gallery has received an award from the Canadian Museum Association for outstanding achievement in education for its Indigenous program. 

The education category recognizes programming that advances knowledge and understanding by reaching new audiences or enhancing existing ones.

Sue Lamothe, the association's chief operating officer, says the gallery's work exceeds current standards "by going beyond the conventional approach.”

Last year, the gallery implemented an Indigenous summer residency in their TechLab, where five young artists worked alongside mentors. The gallery also offered more workshops for school students.
