TD Bank Group donation supports free, main-floor programming at Remai Modern
Remai Modern has received a major corporate gift of $400,000 from TD Bank Group, supporting free programming for five years in the Greg & Olivia Yuel Family Gallery, on the main floor of the museum. Remai Modern is to open in 2017.
The announcement was made in Saskatoon by Frank McKenna, Deputy Chair of TD Bank Group and former Premier of New Brunswick.
“TD understands that there is a responsibility for corporations the size of ours to support the efforts of leading arts organizations like Remai Modern,” McKenna said. “ Remai Modern is a partner that we believe is not only responsive to the needs of its audiences, but a true partner that continually seeks to educate the local community for an appreciation of the visual arts.”
“We are grateful to TD Bank Group for supporting the exciting and innovative main-floor programming we’ll be offering at our new museum,” said Gregory Burke, Remai Modern Executive Director & CEO.
“The TD Connect Program will centre on the 1,992-square-foot Greg & Olivia Yuel Family Gallery. The free programming will include regularly changing exhibitions, dynamic installations, artists’ projects, and performative works that will also animate the atrium. The goal is to connect the museum to the community and build diverse audiences for wider programs.”
Burke said Remai Modern shares with TD the desire to make art experiences inclusive, accessible and meaningful to all.
