Temporary Contemporary Open House
Contemporary Calgary is holding an open house at 5:30 p.m. on May 30 as it prepares for the next phase of renovations to its new home in the city's former planetarium.
The event will feature a panel discussion about Brutalist architecture in what's being billed as Temporary Contemporary, with the project's architect, Bruce Kuwabara, of KPMB; Amery Calvelli, founder of Design Talks, a Calgary non-profit architectural education group; Clemens Gritl, a Berlin-based artist and architect; and David Down, the City of Calgary’s chief urban designer.
Guests can learn more about the planetarium's history through a display of archival images. Also featured is Gritl's exhibition, A Future City from the Past.
The planetarium is located at 701 11 St. S.W.
