If you doubt the strength of the international contemporary art market, it’s time to put your concerns aside. Sotheby’s London pulled in more than C$236 million in its March 8 sales, including C$1.5 million for a small 1973 Andy Warhol painting of Mao. It’s from the same series — and is the same size, medium and subject — as a painting (on the right) purchased for a relative pittance in 1984 for the University of Lethbridge’s art collection.
