The Reach In Abbotsford Welcomes New Curator of Art and Visual Culture
The Reach staff team and board of directors will welcome Adrienne Fast as their new Curator of Art and Visual Culture on February 2, 2018.
“I’m very excited that Adrienne is joining our team, and we’re fortunate to have found such a good fit for our organization and our community,” says Executive Director Laura Schneider, “She certainly impressed us with the range of her curatorial practice, her community-mindedness, and her sincere desire to connect with audiences. I look forward to the insightful contributions that I know she’s going to make at The Reach.”
Fast holds a PhD in art history and theory from the University of British Columbia, and an MA in art history from the University of London. Her academic interests have focused particularly on historical and modern art from Asia, but in her curatorial practice she has contributed to a diverse range of exhibitions, from historical First Nations art from the Northwest Coast, to experimental installation and performance art in Vancouver in the 1960s and 70s, to contemporary performance photography.
Most recently Fast served as Interim Curator of the Kamloops Art Gallery, and previously she was an Assistant Curator at the Vancouver Art Gallery. She has taught several university courses on South Asian art history, both in Canada and the US. Fast has lived in Canada, the UK, the Czech Republic, and India, in both large cities and tiny villages, and she looks forward to making a home in Abbotsford.
