Salt Spring National Art Prize Society has announced the winners of the Parallel Art Show 2023-24 Awards honouring artists living on Salt Spring Island. The Salt Spring National Prize winners announced in the previous week honoured artists from across the country.
The $3,000 Matt Steffich Jurors’ Choice Award goes to Diana Sanderson for her multi-media hanging sculpture Fragile Reflections.
The $2,000 first prize in the Viewers’ Choice Awards goes to Garry Kaye for his landscape painting Frosty Field.
The $1,500 second prize in the Viewers’ Choice Awards goes to Sibeal Foyle for a charcoal and pastel work on paper called Hanna on a Tripod that was inspired by the 2021 Fairy Creek Blockade protesting the cutting of old growth forest.
The $1,000 third prize Viewers’ Choice award goes to Jane Kidd for her dress-like mural Inheritance: Gown 3.
