Galleries West Consulting Editor Jeffrey Spalding recently relocated to Vancouver, where he will work as an art consultant to private sector clients and resume his own art practice.
Spalding joined the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton in mid-2015 as Senior Curator to assist then-director Terry Graff as the gallery started a $30-million project that included a new pavilion and major renovations to existing galleries. With Graff’s departure in 2016, Spalding was appointed Chief Curator and led the widely praised curatorial activities of the gallery, including the official opening of the renewed facility on Oct. 24, 2017. During his 30-month tenure, Spalding was responsible for the acquisition of more than $30 million in donated art, helping elevate the Beaverbrook's reputation as a leading national institution.
Galleries West looks forward to the continuing benefits of Spalding’s insight and the renewal of his Opinion column as he begins this new chapter in his distinguished career.
