Top Curator Leaves Vancouver Art Gallery
Rochelle Steiner, hired a year ago as the associate director and chief curator of the Vancouver Art Gallery, has stepped down for undisclosed reasons.
Daina Augaitis, the gallery's interim director, says the departure was not related to the departure of Kathleen Bartels after 18 years at the institution.
“I think the timing is coincidence,” Augaitis told the Vancouver Sun.
Augaitis, the gallery’s former chief curator, left two years ago after 20 years at the institution. She was named interim director when Bartels' contract was not renewed.
