The Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts has announced the recipients of their 2021 awards.
The $70,000 in total prize money went to artists and organizations based in the Greater Toronto Area. Philip Monk was the recipient of the $15,000 Founder's Achievement Award.
Artist Prize finalists, who receive $5,000 each, were Jen Aitken, Melissa General, Shellie Zhang, Rouzbeh Akhbari and Oreka James.
Project Support Awards went to several organizations, including STEPS Public Art and the Nia Centre for the Arts.
The Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts in Toronto, has awarded a million dollars in prize money over its 23-year history.
