Victoria artist Kelly Richardson's stunning environmentally themed art has been included in the official video for Metallica's 72 Seasons, the title track on the American heavy metal band's latest album.
The video has been viewed more than 3 million times since it dropped March 30.
Richardson, a visual arts professor at the University of Victoria, creates futuristic video installations of devastated landscapes using computer-generated imagery, animation and sound.
Metallica projected three of her works, including HALO (III) and Origin Stories, at a massive scale as they performed the title track. The video was directed by Tim Saccenti and curated by Dina Chang, who was familiar with Richardson's work.
A British show of Richardson's work, Leviathan, is on view until May 23 at The Amelia Scott in Tunbridge Wells.
