WAG-Qaumajuq Announces New Curatorial Fellowship
The Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG)-Qaumajuq has announced a new curatorial fellowship position.
The two-year TD Curatorial Fellow agreement will offer $200,000 to “a racialized curator to cultivate personal curatorial methodologies, collaborate on exhibition development, collections research, programming and community relationship-building,” according to the news release.
“Through a reciprocal mentorship model, the TD Curatorial Fellow will engage and collaborate with artists, WAG-Qaumajuq staff and other arts professionals, as well as connect with local, national, and international communities to achieve a major curatorial project of their own development.”
Applications for the position open today. The anticipated start date for the position is spring 2024.
Money for the position comes from TD Bank Group, through the TD Ready Commitment.
This marks the latest gift from TD to WAG-Qaumajuq. TD also gave $500,000 towards the construction of Qaumajuq, the Inuit art centre.
“We are excited to bring a new curator onto the WAG-Qaumajuq team with this position and offer our support and work with them to create equity-diverse exhibitions, programs, and opportunities for our community to connect and grow,” said Dr. Stephen Borys, WAG-Qaumajuq Director and CEO, in the news release.
“This program is a great opportunity for an emerging curator and aligns with the gallery’s mission to use art for change.”
