Helen was very close to me personally, my gallery, and all the galleries and many artists I exhibited and worked with. Helen Dora Mackie, left us on February 18th. Honestly the amount of times Helen and Jim walked through the door to exhibitions over the years was truly heart warming. No matter what was on the walls or floor, they were engaging. Helen may have been too "quiet" about her own art for too many years (like so many in the Calgary community) but nevertheless she was a brilliant print maker in woodcut & etching and of course in watercolour. She will be missed at exhibitions to come.
Galleries West previewed Mackie's 2017 exhibition at Nickle Galleries in Calgary.
