More than 1,000 people have contributed almost half the $250,000 goal to help artists struggling after a July 22 fire destroyed 274 Jarvis Ave. in Winnipeg.
The building provided studio space to more than two dozen Winnipeg-based artists and creative businesses.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched shortly after the fire.
The three partner groups, Border Crossings, the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Plug In ICA, have set the closing date as Aug. 20.
No one died in the fire but the loss of artwork, collections, archival material, supplies and tools is devastating for the artists.
