matthew heinz, phd, is Professor in the College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia. He has studied the intersections of gender, language, culture, and communication from transdisciplinary perspectives for more than 20 years. He approaches his work via performative writing, poetry, discourse analysis, or social science qualitative approaches. He is the author of Entering Transmasculinity: The Inevitability of Discourse (Intellect Press, UK, 2016). His most recent applied research project was a 2022-2023 needs assessment for 2SLGBTQI+ seniors in British Columbia.
